| | | | | About: | Extremely musical, Ellen Peters Marquart grew up in a family of musicains and music lovers. Ellen Peters Marquart began piano lessons at age 4. By age 9 she was enrolled in a university piano program, receiving instruction in music theory, classical & jazz piano. From age 13-15 Ellen participated in ISMTA classical piano competitions, placing first in both junior & senior divisions. By age 16 she was playing chamber music with other talented young classical musicians as well as beginning to play with bigband & smaller jazz combos. Because of her outstanding musical, artistic & academic abilities, Ellen was granted early admittance to Western Illinois University at age 17. The following four years were filled with numerous awards in piano and art, masterclasses with internationally known classical pianists, accompaniment work with the Chicago Dance Repertory Ensemble, chamber music tours, solo piano performances, press interviews and critiques, contemporary music concerts and a senior-year multimedia performance art show.
