About: Situated in own grounds with a sunny south facing aspect on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park bordering the South Hams, this charming character 16th Century former corn mill, privately owned and personally run, offers the warmth of a homely and informal atmosphere with hotel quality and service in a superb central location, perfectly placed for holidays or business, moor or coast, close to the ancient Stannary towns of Ashburton and Buckfastleigh and the medieval town of Totnes, midway between Plymouth and Exeter.

The 'Mill Room' is now a character beamed restaurant with its oak beams and carved sideboard. The restaurant is renowned for its quality offering excellent well priced varied menus with many choices including our daily fresh fish board, vegetarian options, light meals, all served with care and attention.

The western parts of our country are richer in legend than any other part. Perhaps this is because of the Celtic love of poetry and symbolism inherent in the blood of the people of the West; perhaps because of inspiration drawn from the wild hills and bleak moors of the lands in which they live; perhaps because life is, and always was, quieter there, and people have more time to remember the tales of other days than in busier, more prosaic, districts.

Buckfastleigh is situated halfway between Exeter & Plymouth with Torbay 12 miles to the east, we are on the border of Teignbridge and South Hams. We have a range of attractions such as Butterflies, Otters, River Dart, Dartmoor, Steam Trains, Buckfast Abbey and Good Food. We also have the bones in our Holy Trinity Churchyard of the Cabell family reputed to be from Arthur Conan Doyle's "Hound of the Baskervilles" one of the stories of Sherlock Holmes. South Dartmoor is full of mystery and suspicion.
